2. Unter den Linden

The boulevard known as Unter den Linden gets its name for all of the beautiful linden trees that line the street. These trees were planted over 400 years ago, and they are still standing strong today.

There are a number of breathtaking architectural sites that you can visit, as well as the German Historical Museum. If you are interested in traditional tourist attractions, this is definitely the place to be. The Reichstag is the German Parliament building, and there is a ton of history associated with it. This very important historical landmark is a combination of six different architectural styles, making it a very interesting sight, to say the least.

It is one of the most visited attractions in all of Germany, and for good reason. You can get a great view from the glass dome at the top, but you must register beforehand.

4. Tiergarten

Tiergarten is an expansive park located in the center of the city, and it is quite something to behold. It has over 14,000 different animals at the Berlin Zoo, which is a great attraction for families to visit.

There is also the Berlin Victory Column, which is dedicated to an important Prussian victory many years ago. This is yet another place that has something to offer just about everyone. It is a beautiful place to walk or drive through.

Victory Column was built in the late 1800s and represents a number of Prussian military victories. It used to be in front of the Reichstag, but it was moved to the center of Tiergarten during the Nazi party’s reign.

This is yet another great site to visit for anyone who loves history and architecture. This monument is also known as The Siegessaule, and it has a total of 285 steps that you can go up and down if you are feeling brave and is a major tourist attraction. 6. Topography of Terror

The Topography of Terror is a unique museum that has both indoor and outdoor parts to explore. It can be found at the site of the old Nazi government’s SS Reich security office. Here you will find all sorts of objects and exhibits that detail the terrible reign of the Nazi party.

You will find a number of memorials for those who lost their lives. While it can be a somewhat depressing place to visit, it is also incredibly interesting and moving. If you have a love of history, you definitely want to come here.

7. Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church

Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church is quite an impressive religious site that was built at the end of the 19th century. It actually burned down during the Second World War, but it was later restored. Today it stands tall with an impressive and amazing neo-Romanesque architecture that is truly amazing.

8. Treptower Park

Treptower Park is the place to go if you are fascinated by World War II. It has a huge military cemetery along with an overwhelming Soviet War memorial that dates back to the 1940s. Each of the plates that are interspersed around this park commemorates a different battle in the war.

The Holocaust Memorial is perhaps the most emotional and moving museum in all of Germany. It contains 2,711 individual slabs that make up a total of over 200,000 square feet. No two stone slabs are the same, and they are dedicated to the lives of those who were lost during the Holocaust.

10. Berlin Wall Memorial

The Berlin Wall Memorial is a great place to go if you love history but don’t want to wade through huge crowds of tourists. It is right across from a building where you will find a number of historical exhibits that are quite interesting.

The Pergamon Museum is a huge place that is packed with all sorts of interesting artefacts and objects with immense historical value. Here you will be able to gaze upon hundreds of years old antiquities. It is home to the Ishtar Gate of Babylon as well as the Roman Market Gate of Miletus.

14. Berlin Cathedral

The Berlin Cathedral is among the largest churches in all of Berlin, and it is very impressive, to say the least. This church was built in the early 1990s, and it boasts a stunning neo-Renaissance architecture that you will be sure to appreciate.

Museum Island offers five different museums with all sorts of great exhibits that you can walkthrough. It can be found between the Kupfergraben and the Spree River. In some of these museums, you will find incredible paintings and artefacts that are hundreds of years old.

Oberbaum Bridge goes over the Spree River and stands two stories tall across the Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain districts. You should also try to stop by the German Historical Museum, which has a number of exhibits that will teach you more about this country. It has all sorts of interesting artefacts from the last couple millennia. There is also a huge collection of World War II posters on display year-round.

18. Kurfurstendamm

Kurfurstendamm is a wide road that has a number of tall trees going up and down the entire length of it. On this road, you will find a number of side streets that have shops that you can visit to buy clothes, jewellery, food and all sorts of other things. It is an immense shopping center that you will need to visit when you are in Berlin.

There are also lots of high-end places to shop for just about anything you could possibly want. In fact, it is one of the largest outdoor shopping malls in all of Europe. Be prepared for lots of people, as it is a very popular tourist destination.

19. Gendarmenmarkt

When you visit the Gendarmenmarkt, you will quickly see why it is such a popular place. It has been around since the late 1600s, and today it is home to numerous important historic landmarks. There is the French Cathedral as well as the Franzosischer Dom. Some of these structures have been reconstructed over the years, but they still retain their original beauty.

20. Hackesche Hoefe

Hackesche Hoefe is essentially a series of courtyards that include a number of shops, flats, and offices that you’ll want to explore. There are all sorts of great places to buy a variety of items. 21. Berlin TV Tower

The Berlin TV Tower, which is also called the Berliner Fernsehturm, features an observation deck where you can see the entire city. It is the absolute best view in all of Berlin, and it’s quite spectacular. This landmark isn’t quite as old as some of the others, but it is still pretty impressive. It has been around since the mid-21st century, and it is a true work of art.

Alexanderplatz is a public square that is located in the center of the Mitte district. It is where you will find the impressive World Clock as well as the gorgeous Neptune Fountain. The DDR Museum is in what was once known as the government district and is packed with history that you will undoubtedly find fascinating. You will be able to see some of the apartments that people used to live in. There are also a number of listening devices on display that was once used to spy on citizens.

24. Potsdamer Platz

Potsdamer Platz is yet another area that has something for people of all ages. It is an art, entertainment and shopping center wrapped into one. Here you will find the DaimlerChrysler Atrium, a 3D IMAX Theater, and shopping mall. The Film Museum is also worth stopping by, as there are a lot of interesting exhibits.

The Cinema Complex is the perfect place to go if you feel like watching a movie. Just be prepared to deal with lots of tourists at pretty much any time of the day.

25. East Side Gallery

If you want the perfect combination of art and history, the East Side Gallery has just what you are looking for. It is home to the longest piece of the Berlin Wall, which is often referred to as “freedom wall”. This part of the wall features some incredible artwork that has come to represent hope for many.

It is a very moving sight and one that you will never forget as long as you live. Parts of the wall have been destroyed to make room for commercial buildings, but this one is perhaps the most beautiful.
